"Upcycling, also known as Creative Re-use, is the process of transforming pre-owned items or unwanted materials into new products of better quality and for better environmental use"
At La Petite Garau, the journey of an upcycled piece starts when the designer scours vintage and
second-hand retailers, where she carefully selects those
'lucky choices', which are then brought back to her workshop. There, she 'nurtures' and reconditions each item,
before designing its new look and bringing it back to life
with added quirk and fun.

The aim is to create a little piece of art
while helping the environment with a
Reduce-Reuse-Recycle concept.
"We live in a society oriented
to consumerism and mass-production.
We often buy new products of poor quality
made in faraway and unethical factories.
Instead, I work by reusing beautiful items which are locally sourced
and with a 'zero air miles' concept in mind.
Many old objects sit tired and unused on shelves...
I rescue them,
I choose to give them a new purpose and beauty."
